Asian Americans Advancing Justice

Asian Americans Advancing Justice has an extensive collection of free lesson plans for different ages, time periods, subjects, and themes. They include slides, handouts, video clips and so much more. As of this writing, there are 8 lesson plans under the stereotype category. My favorite is the unit on Hate Crimes and Microaggressions. These would be great to use alongside Diversity Beans!

Be sure not to overlook Untold Civil Rights Stories, the first national guide of its kind for students, teachers, and communities. The main purpose of the book is to identify and honor those individuals of Asian descent who were, and are, heroes in the struggle for civil rights and social justice.

AAJC's overall mission is "Fighting for civil rights and empowering Asian Americans to create a more just America for all." Affiliate members include:  AAJC (Washington, DC), AAJC – Asian Law Caucus (San Francisco), AAJC – Atlanta, AAJC – Chicago, and AAJC – Los AngelesEach affiliate has their own mission that enhances their collective work.
